Sand and purple is an unusual pairing in Beni M'Guild work. The tribal patterns typically appear in red, orange, and ochre, which makes the purple element in this piece distinctive. Against a sandy peach ground rather than the more common cream, the Beni M'Guild geometric structure of diamond medallions and bordering chevrons gives the colour combination a framework that makes it work.

Handwoven in 100% wool in the Middle Atlas. At 320 x 185cm a generous room-filling size. Vintage.
